In an exclusive interview about his life as a student leader at Victoria University, Mugabi says he takes pride in the decision he made to join the Jinja road university owned by the Ruparelia Group. “Joining Victoria University is the best decision I have made in my life,” he said.

He adds: “I joined Victoria University because it offered me what I wanted in a university. I believe Victoria University has the right facilities, environment and education that I wanted. As a beginning learning institution, it has its ups and downs but we are trying to build the gap together with administration.”

Joining Victoria University did not only open doors to good quality education but also acted as a springboard to a long political careers ahead of him. “I have never been in high leadership position before not because I didn’t want but because I was not given the opportunity. Victoria University gave me the opportunity to be a leader,” Mugabi explains.

I didn’t stand for guild president because of political reasons or ambitions but I felt I had to offer myself to lead this institution, mold the guild office because it’s a vital of the university. I wanted to serve Victoria University, I have always wanted to serve people.”

Under his tenure as guild president, Mugabi and his cabinet have managed to draft a constitution that will govern the university. It awaits the approval of administration and the promoters of the university. He has also improved the welfare of students. The university will soon get a cafeteria where they can freshen up with eats. The relationship between students and administration has also improved.
