Over the Weekend, Rwenzori mineral water a product of Coca – cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) announced that over 40,000 plastic bottles were collected from this year’s MTN Marathon in partnership with hundreds of collectors dressed in Rwenzori branded T-shirts and red gloves that gathered piece by piece from Kololo Independence Grounds where the Marathon was held.

Affairs and Communications Director,  CCBA Simon Kaheru while addressing the media at Namanve, Rwenzori Bottling Plant weeks ago before the Marathon.

Speaking to Coca – cola Beverages Africa , Affairs and Communication Director Mr Simon Kaheru said that; ‘’Over 40,000 plastic bottles have been collected at every point in this years’ MTN Marathon by our dedicated team of hundreds of people. The same practice will go on even after the Marathon to ensure we have cleaner communities even after enjoying the water after a strong thirst.’’

Rwenzori mineral water will be working together with the Plastic Recycling Industries (PRI) to ensure they recycle plastic bottles for re-package thus creating employment to thousands of Ugandans including the youth and women groups that will be collecting thus earning a living and sustain their families.

Its noted that this year, Coca – cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) under its subsidiary mineral water brand Rwenzori offered a sponsorship package worth UGX150 Million towards the MTN Marathon under the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme.
