Brazil top Group E with win vs. Serbia, will face Mexico in round of 16

Brazil finished Group E winners with a 2-0 victory over Serbia in Moscow on Wednesday night.

This time round Neymar did not score any goal, but he fought so hard to defend against Serbia from scoring.  Paulinho scored on the 36th minute putting a smile on the Brazilian faces, and on the 68th minute, Thiago Silva scored a goal putting brazil o the lead of group E

On the other hand, Serbia tried so much to score but Neymar defended so hard, the victory, which eliminated Serbia, set up a grudge with Mexico in the round of 16 on Monday in Samara.

Brazil, who finished group play with seven points, will have five days before taking on Group F runners-up Mexico, who were stunned 3-0 by Sweden in their final group game on Wednesday.

Sweden demolish Mexico, but both teams advance to knockout stage

Sweden advanced to the World Cup round of 16 as Group F winners after a 3-0 win over Mexico, who still advanced thanks to Germany’s defeat to South Korea on Wednesday.

Sweden erupted for three goals in the second half through Ludwig Augustinsson in the 50th minute, an Andreas Granqvist penalty in the 62nd minute and an own goal from Edson Alvarez in the 74th minute, putting Mexico on the brink of elimination.

Sweden will play Group E runners-up Switzerland, who drew 2-2 with Costa Rica on Wednesday, in the round of 16 on July

Germany’s shame as holders dumped out of World Cup after Korea defeat

Holders Germany were knocked out of the World Cup on a stunning afternoon in Group F, courtesy of a 2-0 defeat against South Korea.

The four-time winners, who lifted the trophy in 2014, had not exited a World Cup in the first round since 1938 but suffered a humiliating early exit after failing to find the crucial breakthrough.
