Yesterday July 12th 2018, DFCU Bank together with Monitor Publications limited and Uganda Investments Authority (UIA) unveiled a programmed dubbed Rising Woman to help uplift struggling Ugandan women doing business in the country.
This initiative comes after an investigative research on women entrepreneurs in the country who constitute approximately 45% according to Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association limited (UWEAL).
It is estimated that women in business greatly contribute to economic growth though various challenges tagged along business operations are unrivalled which bridges the gap between success and failure and many end up surrendering due to lack of access and cost of credit at times high which is a big barrier, exposure and lack of access to markets for their products among many more.
This partnership is therefore aimed at celebrating the unsung heroes and inspiring women at different stages of business with the theme ‘’Taking your business ahead’’ to recognize, celebrate and promote a culture of mentorship which series of activities will be going on till September 2018.
Activities to tackle will include; power talks, mentorship programmes, business expo, exposure trip, cash prize among many more.
Targeted women groups will include; business women, small scale investors, Entrepreneurs, Members of Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited (UWEAL), Members of Uganda Small Scale Industries Association (USSIA) and Uganda Manufactures Association members.
These activities shall provide a platform for women in business to escalate their businesses to greater heights, support revenue earning increment by women, advocacy for businesses, domestic investment promotion, Facilitation and support for businesses under the National Content inclusion in priority sectors and provide women with financing solutions that meet their needs to avoid the phobia that comes while borrowing among women.
