Qatar Airways will operate daily flights to Canada from Saturday. The carrier will operate three weekly flights to Toronto from its Doha hub. The airline already operates four weekly flights to Montreal.
Many airlines are relaunching their services following the worst crisis ever to impact the aviation industry.
Qatar Airways will offer daily flights to Canada from Saturday, July 4th. The airline will add three flights per week to Toronto to its existing schedule. The flights are yet to be added to the Qatar Airways booking engine at the time of writing, but will operate three times per week, on days that Qatar Airways isn’t flying to Montreal.
Qatar Airways will be sending both the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350-900 to Canada. Both aircraft will operate on the four Montreal flights. Meanwhile, the A350-900 will exclusively serve the remaining three Toronto flights.
As mentioned previously, Qatar Airways never operated to fewer than 30 destinations, even at the height of the crisis. The airline’s essential network enabled many stranded passengers to continue to travel home, even when other airlines had grounded their fleets.
One of the routes kept open was the Montreal route. Since the pandemic began, Qatar Airways has repatriated over 16,000 Canadians from the Middle East and Asia, working in cooperation with the Government of Canada.
More broadly, Qatar’s continued operations have helped more than just Canadian citizens. The airline previously announced it had become the world’s biggest due to its continued operations throughout the pandemic.
Additionally, in April, the airline revealed that it had shifted 50,000 Tonnes of Medical Aid around the globe. This has since increased substantially. The movement had been achieved on both dedicated cargo aircraft, in addition to utilizing cargo hold capacity on aircraft with low load factors.
Commenting on the news, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,
“Qatar Airways has never stopped operating to Canada throughout this crisis and we are pleased to be able to further strengthen our support to the people of Canada with the addition of these three weekly scheduled flights to Toronto.”
