The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has strongly condemned the duping practices as conmen have since severely robbed people of their monies all in the name of delivering them with packages/parcels from abroad.

The Authority therefore urges the general public to stand vigilant of crooks that call to excite and convince their victims by posting photos of the alleged parcels on their Whatsapp or Facebook inbox and then solicit for money transmission via mobile money to allegedly clear the commodities.

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority continues to warn the public and advises all unsuspecting members of the public not to fall victims of the deceit acts and urges all people to desist from dealing with such conmen who disguise themselves as workers at Entebbe International Airport, and also refrain from making any payments for cargo clearance using mobile money.

The Authority further clarifies that, in case anyone is expecting a consignment through the airport, it is advisable to first verify with the airline that allegedly brought it or physically visit the airport to interface with the respective ground handler (NAS on Tel: 0791633057 or DAS on Tel: 0772419581 or 0705045056).

Kato Calystov a Facebook follower on the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority page quoted “Many people have fallen victims in this scandal. I wish you will vehemently fight this vice at our international airport. Thank you.”

Ssenyonga Herbert also a Facebook follower on the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority page commented that, “Conmen have always hanged out at EBB not Only outsiders but also your airside/ aviation staff who’ve made it a routine to solicit for bribes from both incoming and departing passengers.”

Robert Ahimbisibwe another follower of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority page had this to comment “Good notice for the gullible unsuspecting victims of the said scam that has been going on for a while but also people should think twice before being scammed of their hard earned money for the so called ‘gifts’ from their virtual friends in diaspora. Free things are not always free as portrayed”
