Tennis, snooker, darts, boxing, football, and athletics are just a few of the sports that British sports commentator, TV host, and freelance reporter Rob Walker covers for the BBC. Upon his arrival in the country, Mr. Walker spoke at a press conference at the Uganda Media Center, which was presided over by the state ministers for tourism and sports as well as UTB CEO Ms. Lilly Ajarova and Mr. Tashobya Ambrose, the chairman of the national council for sports.

Hon. Mugarra commended Mr. Walker in his speech for praising the country through his outstanding commentary, particularly during the 2018 Summer Olympics in Japan, when he lauded the country’s beauty and its kind citizens. “Uganda is one of the friendliest, most beautiful countries you can ever dream to visit,” know down in Kampala, people are going to be sipping on Nile Special.

The CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, Ms. Lilly Ajarova, emphasised that sports and tourism were complementing areas for the country. She emphasised Uganda’s position as the richest country in Africa, if not the entire world, earning it the moniker “Pearl of Africa.” She underlined how important Robert Walker’s visit is and how it will benefit the country’s advertising strategies. She pointed out that sports tourism draws viewers or competitors to a variety of sporting events, which can ultimately lead to tourism.

Rob Walker was grateful for the invitation and opportunity to return to Uganda after his last visit in 2017, as he is eager to explore new regions of the country in addition to getting reacquainted with old ones. I’m going to go running as well, though not as quickly as Joshua or Jacob, he continued. He asserted that there are other factors at play than just tourism or sports, such as the opportunity to continue influencing how certain people interpret African content. He observed that Uganda was a country with incredibly friendly people, beautiful landscapes, and young people who were going to be the flower of the Pearl of Africa.
