Located inside the most pristine and sacred Namugongo martyrs shrine and founded in the year 2015, the new Uganda Martyrdom museum is now open to the general public for visits at an entrance fee of Shs10,000 and Shs5,000 kids.
The museum has been opened just about a few weeks to the annual Namugongo martyrs day celebrations commemorated every 3rd June to remember the fallen 45 martyrs that were brutally massacred by the Kabaka Mwanga II due to their deep Christianity beliefs and faith in the 18th Century between 1855 – 1886.
The new Uganda martyrs museum comprises memoir sculptures that depict details of the pain the young people went through as a sacrifice for their faith during the time.
The opening of this prestigious site to the general public comes in a bid to amplify faith – based tourism in Uganda, while it adds to the circuit of City tours besides the popular destinations and landmarks Kampala City.
Upon entry to the newly established religious site, tourists will traverse upon a guided tour through the execution grounds bearing; statues, massacre tools, and vintage items such as backcloth, knives, and spears among several others.
