Despite ongoing challenges in the Tourism and Hospitality industry brought about the Outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic since December 2019, the sector remains optimistic to growth post Covid-19 Era.
This is evident as a new Chimpundu Safari Lodge recently opened for business to tourists that would be visiting Kibale Forest National park as the park is home to 70 mammal species, including 13 primate species that include Chimpanzees.
This Forest’s 351 tree species that rise to 55m and are over 200 years old host over 375 bird species.
Kibale Forest is a pioneer to a great safari that takes you through the 180km-long wildlife corridor between Ishasha, the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) and Sebitoli Wetland- the northernmost part of Kibale Forest and home to over 236 bird species.
Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) hosts 95 mammal species, including the famous and rare tree-climbing lions of Ishasha as well as 600 bird species.
The Kibale-Fort Portal area itself is one of Uganda’s most rewarding destinations, right from the Ndali-Kasenda crater area (over 40 crater lakes).
Also within a 1-2 hour driving distance is the Rwenzori Mountains National Park famous for Mt. Rwenzori, the 3rd tallest mountain in Africa comprising 70 mammals, 217 bird species and some of the world’s rarest vegetation as well as the Semuliki National Park consisting of 53 mammals and 441 bird species.
