Civy Tumusiime on Wednesday this week was elected as the board chair for the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) on a fresh new executive board to serve the period 2020/2022.
AUTO merges registered and professional licensed companies operating tourism and travel activities in the Country,
Tumusiime from Acacia Safaris Limited was elected the new Board Chair of the Association
Kicking out Bonifence Byamukama of Kitandara Tours and Eugenie-Windt Nsubuga of Swan Air of the hard race during the association’s Annual General Meeting – polling 162 votes, while Eugenie-Windt Nsubuga and Bonifence Byamukama managed to poll 64 and 14 votes only.
The Annual General Meeting chaired at Hotel Africana located in Kampala’s posh surbub, Ms Tumusiime will have Tony Grace Mulinde of Speke Uganda Holidays as her deputy while Mr. Herbert Byaruhanga of Bird Uganda Safaris was voted Board Secretary and Begumisa Wilbur from Africa Adventure Safaris will serve as the board’s Treasurer.
Other newly appointed members include Robert Mugabe of Africa Adventure Travelers, Marinka Sanc George of Let’s Go Travel and Yvonne Hilgendorf of Manya Africa Tours.
Addressing members upon the win, Ms. Civy Tumusiime among others promised to lobby Government for incentives and negotiate lower interest rates with financial institutions as well as promote unity and synergies from within the membership to foster growth of the member companies.
