Flights to allow citizens and residents to return to UAE from UK following travel ban.
UAE based flagship carrier Emirates Airline announced starting this Tuesday 2 February it will resume flights from London Heathrow and Manchester to Dubai from 2 and 3 February, respectively, just days after cancelling all UK services.
The UK announced last week that it had added the UAE to its ‘red list’ of countries, meaning that all direct passenger flights between the countries were suspended from Friday, leaving many travellers stranded.
But Emirates is now resuming passenger flights to Dubai, allowing citizens and residents stuck in the UK to travel back to the UAE. Non-UK nationals however are still unable to fly to the UK from the UAE.
“Emirates remains committed to serving customers in the UK and will reinstate outbound passenger operations from 2 February. Initially this will include a daily flight from London Heathrow and four weekly from Manchester. Services from Birmingham and Glasgow will continue to be cargo-only,” confirmed an Emirates spokesperson.
“We are working closely with all relevant authorities. Passengers traveling from the UK are required to check their eligibility for travel as per the UK government advisory as well as check the local entry requirements of their destination to ensure they are permitted to travel.”
Data from OAG shows that a total of 190,365 seats were scheduled on the Dubai to London Heathrow route in the first week of 2021.
