May 5 is a day to commemorate the African Heritage worldwide. The products unveiled included three annotated maps showing sites and locations of the historical buildings in the three towns, a photographic book titled ‘Beyond the Reeds and Bricks,’ with numerous photographic representations of the buildings and a mobile app, with relevant content all meant to preserve information regarding the historical buildings.

The three information rich products have been developed as a result of the continued collaboration between the European Union, the Cross Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU) and the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities to mark the European Year of Cultural Heritage that commenced in 2018.

The book “Beyond the Reeds and Bricks,” contains photographs of more than 60 famous historical sites. These are accompanied by relative narrations that arrays the locations to their historical, social and political contexts and highlights why they are still relevant to us today.

The ‘Uganda’s Built Heritage’ mobile app can be downloaded on both android and iPhone digital platforms. This mobile application was built to help easily access digital content and information about the historical buildings by every smart phone user.

The developed and produced information is readily available in germane tourism shops and business centers to the entire public. The information from the products will enable the worldwide public to access decisive data about Uganda’s architectural heritage, which is currently under menace.
