Education experts believe that curriculum activities play a strong part in a child performance at school. They say it takes away the stress and relaxes them. It opens them to new ideas that cannot be delivered in a classroom environment.
True to that school of thought, Kampala Parents School organizes an Inter-School Athletics Competition and invited other schools to give pupils a chance to relax, shade off stress, interact, network and explore their talent and abilities.
The one day event was attend by schools like Kampala Junior Academy, Trinity Primary School and Kisule Primary School. They competed in the tag of war, 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m and royal race for both boys and girls.
Trinity Primary School emerged as winners. Kampala Parents School, Kisule Primary School and Kampala Junior Academy finished second, third and fourth respectively. Alex Mayo, the games master at Trinity Primary School, said their success came of hard work.
“As games master, I happy that Trinity has gone home with the overall winner’s trophy. We have not only got a trophy but also made friends here.” An elated Mayo said in an interview.
Daphne Kato, the Principal of Kampala Parents School, said they used the one day competition bring neighboring schools to network, build closer working relationship. “Work without play is not good, we need to play; there are many advantages of having such playing time. Children’s stress is shade off,” Kato said adding that they organized the competition to “strengthen our working relationship with other neighboring schools’.
