The first urban expo in Uganda will be taking place in Jinja come the 05th till 09th September 2018. A concept by Urban Authorities Association of Uganda will be aimed at showcasing investment opportunities that exist in Uganda’s urban areas.
Over 10,000 people from Uganda and 50 more countries are expected to turn up for the expo. The event will join participants from 41 municipalities and 400 town councils from Uganda’s different regions.
Jinja district mayor, Majid Batambuze last week on Thursday said they want urban authorities to expose what they are doing plus investment opportunities availed to investors.
“We have challenges in road construction, garbage collection and urban financing. We are looking for partners with solutions’’.
Isaac Musumba, the state minister for lands, housing and urban development said the expo was part of measures by government to draw attention to urbanisation by addressing development of urban areas.
“We are paying more attention to urban areas because much of the country’s economic activity takes place there and the highest tax returns are from those areas,” he explained.
