Catherine Kusasira Proves Old Is Gold at Sheraton Gardens
On Friday, January 10th 2025, music lovers in Uganda gathered for an unforgettable evening at the highly anticipated show, “The Roots of Catherine Kusasira Old Is Gold.” The evening celebrated Catherine Kusasira’s music career and showcased her timeless contributions to Uganda’s music scene, paying tribute to the true golden era of real local band music.
The night featured a lineup of legendary artists who came together to honor Kusasira and entertain the crowd. Performers included renowned music stars such as Sir Mesach Ssemakula, Fred Sserugo, Carol Nantongo, Sophie Nantongo, Hajji Haruna Mubiru, Ronald Mayinja, Maureen Nantume, Betty Mpologoma, and Mariam Ndagire. The legendary Afrigo Band added their signature touch with timeless melodies, while comedians Madrat and Chiko kept the audience laughing with their witty performances.
Catherine performed all her classic hits, including “Ssi Dogo,” “Sweet Wange,” “Amatta,” “Baby Wange,” “Gutujja,” “Kambasalizze,” “Mujjawo,” “Bwosiba Face,” “Ndi Mukugu,” “Mr. Handsome,” “Junior,” “Mama Baby,” “Love Tender,” “I Love You,” and “Tebagala Afuna Sente,” among others.
The event received generous support from prominent leaders in Uganda. His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, represented by the State Minister for Youth and Children’s Affairs, Balaam Ateenyi Barugahara, contributed UGX 30 million and covered the stage setup costs. Additionally, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Robina Nabanjja demonstrated her support for the music industry with a contribution of UGX 30 million, delivered through the Minister for Kampala, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda.

Spice Diana Celebrates a Spectacular 10 Years of Music at Serena Hotel Kampala
On the evening of Friday, January 10th, 2025, Kampala Serena Hotel came alive with glamour, music and celebration as Spice Diana commemorated 10 years in the music industry with a concert. Fans, celebrities and dignitaries gathered at the venue to honour Uganda’s music diva and her decade-long journey.
The event attracted numerous personalities, including the Buganda Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, who graced the evening with his presence. Fellow artists such as Karole Kasita, Big Eye Starboss, Martha Mukisa, Chozen Blood, and many others attended in solidarity. The turnout of fans was remarkable, demonstrating that Spice Diana holds a special place in their hearts.
Spice Diana took to the stage at 9pm, making a grand entrance that showcased her signature flair for drama and elegance. She emerged from a white rotating box, shimmering in a silver and gold outfit that immediately captivated the audience. This bold fashion statement set the tone for an evening filled with breathtaking performances and visuals.
Over the years, Spice Diana has become synonymous with exceptional fashion, and her 10th-anniversary concert was no exception. Through multiple wardrobe changes, she showcased a rich and unique collection of outfits, each reflecting her artistic personality and meticulous attention to detail. From edgy ensembles to elegant gowns, every outfit was a visual delight, leaving her fans in awe.
Performing a selection of her hit songs, including “Ndi Mu Love,” “Bajikona,” “Omala,” “Twookya,” and “Omusheshe,” Spice Diana demonstrated her versatility and vocal prowess. Her soulful renditions and energetic performances captivated the audience, with each song reflecting a chapter in her 10-year journey.
As the night progressed, Spice Diana invited several artists to join her on stage, adding an extra layer of excitement to the concert. Collaborators such as Fik Fameica, Nince Henry, Triplets Ghetto Kids, Anko Ronie, Pallaso, and Stabua Natoro brought their unique styles to the stage, creating memorable moments of musical synergy.
The energy in the room was palpable as fans sang along, danced, and celebrated the star they have supported for a decade.
