In order for Uganda to comply with the EAC Sectoral Council of Ministers’ directives, the government will with immediate effect adopt new measures specifically targeting all the border points of entry into the country.
The measures to be implemented will target both travelers and truck drivers that use the country’s land borders. This was revealed through a communication by the Director general of health services Dr. Henry Mwebesa who notes that the measures are to take immediate effect.
Below are the measures to be implemented for travelers and truck drivers arriving at all Ugandan border points hence forth.
1.Uganda will recognize COVID-l9 PCR results from East African
community (EAC) accredited laboratories that were jointly accredited by
EAC for Covid-19 testing and travelers will be required to come with Covid-l9 results taken within 72 hours.
2. More so, COVID-19 PCR results will currently not be required for fully vaccinated travelers and truck drivers to cross the land border of entry.
With the above measures adopted, all Private Laboratories have been requested to exit border points of entry premises with immediate effect given that they are no longer needed to conduct any COVID-l9 tests at land border points of entry.
