As tourism and travel slowly gets back to normal following the pandemic and in bid to steadily revamp the sector, the government of Uganda has listed 40 visa free countries where Ugandan travelers can visit with out a prior visa fee payment.
The exemption too applies to both travelers and refugees from the listed countries implying they don’t need to apply for a visa to access Uganda.
The revelation was made during a press statement from the Internal affairs Ministry that partly highlighted that some travels with convention travel documents (CTD) have been applying for visas to access Uganda yet they are from visa exempt countries.
“This communication serves to inform all stakeholders that visa exemption is on the nationality and not the travel document one holds. This implies that all CTD holders from visa exempt countries do not need pre-approved visas or authorisation,” the statement read.

According to ministry of Internal affairs, Ugandans are exempted from paying $50 to travel to the above listed 40 countries and neither are travelers from these countries.
