Kampala. July 9th, 2016– Over 100 hoteliers under the Uganda Hotel Owners Association are set to share insights into the value of branding and marketing of their hotels at a four day expo scheduled to take place between 11 and 15 July 2016 at Hotel Africana. This will be followed by a two-day exhibition starting on 12th July 2016.
The workshop will comprise of an expo and business to business (B2B) session which will be held on Monday 11 July 2016 at Hotel Africana. The B2B aims at linking the hotel owners with partners and service providers. The workshop, facilitated by LOGGOS+Plus, a brand design company and the Uganda Hotel Owners Association, will focus on the power of brand identity through company logos.
Mr Caleb Owino, the Managing Director of fireworks Group said, “In the increasingly competitive hospitality industry, every brand needs an identity that sets them apart from their competition. Brand differentiation is a key element to business success. There is a reason why Sheraton can charge three times more for a soda than the next restaurant across the road. The workshop aims at educating the hotel owners about the importance of setting themselves apart and how best they can do it to drive business performance.”
The workshop will likewise serve as a networking platform for hotel owners and the industry regulators to further discuss issues affecting the industry and solutions to foster growth.
According to Jean Byamugisha, the Executive Director of the Uganda Hotel Owners Association, “the partnership with LOGGOS+Plus is a great opportunity for hoteliers – to gain insights into the tried and tested techniques for customer attraction and retention. We hope this workshop will guide the hotel owners in the right path to creating outstanding brands through better design and service delivery”.
As of March 2016, more than 3,500 hotels had been registered in Uganda by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities together with the Uganda Tourism Board. This clearly marks a growth in the hotel sector in Uganda due to the great investment climate facilitated by the government. In its first ever grading and classification exercise, 29 hotels were graded. This has made hotels more competitive and thus the need for many hotels to rebrand and stand out from the crowd.
