Last Sunday, Kyamajaka village residents in muhoro town council located in kagadi district got shocked after chimpazees tried kidnapping two babies.
This incident happened at 5:00pm when oliver Kemigisa, mother to Racheal Karungi one of the kidnapped babies was preparing supper at their home.
‘’I left the baby with another baby on the veranda for compound chores few metres away only to understand when 20 chimpazees were surrounding Racheal as they aimed at another baby who was crying’’. She narrates.
However , she adds that one of the babies (boy) was saved after struggling with the chimpazees though they battled her out and ran with Racheal karungi.
Karungi was taken to the nearby bush as residents became firm and started chasing them where they found her hidden in grass after her skirts were off.
Racheal was rushed to Muhoro health centre three unconsciously where she is seeking treatment.
She said that on a daily basis chimpanzees visit the area in search for food and they usually chase people.
About a month ago, another three-year-old boy was grabbed and eaten by a leopard in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The toddler was with his nanny in an unfenced part of the park when the the leopard snatched him, dragging him into the bush.
