This annual festival, launched in 2022, highlights the cultural richness of the Elgon region, drawing attention to the beauty and diversity of its people and landscape.

The Elgon Festival brings together various tribes from across the region, including the Sabiny, Bagisu, Basoga, Karamojong, Iteso, Bagwere, and Japadola, who showcase their traditions through captivating cultural dance performances, music, and talent shows.

This year’s event attracted visitors from the United States, Kenya, and across East Africa, alongside guests from Western and Central Uganda, making it a cross-cultural celebration of unity.

The MECA team’s presence underlined their commitment to promoting tourism in the Elgon region, which is home to Mount Elgon National Park, one of Uganda’s key tourist destinations. The festival served as a platform to spotlight the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, aiming to attract both domestic and international tourists.

The Elgon Festival has grown in popularity since its inception, fostering unity, cultural exchange, and economic opportunities through tourism. By supporting this initiative, MECA continues to play a significant role in preserving the region’s cultural identity while promoting tourism as a driver of development.
