Earlier on, health officials in Namayingo District issued a statement confirming that there was a Cholera outbreak in the district.
Deputy Resident District Commissioner Trevor Solomon Baleke, on behalf of the ministry, announced on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, that three out of four individuals had tested positive for the disease.
Following a dispatch of response team, the ministry emphasizes that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent any further spread of the disease. Health officials from the district, led by the District Health Officer (DHO) and their dedicated team, are working diligently to contain the outbreak and prevent it from reaching epidemic proportions.
Ministry of Health Initiative
In response to the situation, the ministry has also mobilized health inspectors and assistants who have established a base in the island sub-county of Sigulu.
This strategic move is part of their comprehensive approach to raising awareness among the local population about proper food handling practices and the importance of maintaining good hygiene standards. By proactively engaging with the community, the ministry aims to curtail the transmission of the disease through contaminated food and water sources.
The Ministry of Health calls out for the public’s cooperation in implementing preventive measures. They are encouraging regular handwashing, proper food preparation, and safe drinking water practices to effectively reduce the risk of further infections.
Through this proactive response and clear communication, the Ministry of Health is taking decisive action to handle the Cholera outbreak and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
The public is urged to promptly report any signs or symptoms of Cholera to local health facilities for immediate attention and care. With the collective efforts of the ministry and the public, the ministry is confident in their ability to manage the situation effectively and safeguard the health of all residents in Namayingo District.
