The newly sworn-in Ugandan minister of Tourism. Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) Hon. Tom Butime Rwakaikara has taken on reign replacing the former minister Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu who officially handed over office on January 23, 2020 following his appointment to other national duties.
During the handover ceremony that was held at the Ministry grounds at Rwenzori Towers in Kampala, Staff at the MTWA commended the enthusiasm, great leadership and service of the former Minister and bided him farewell for the work well done.
The new minister, Tom Butime, was formerly working with Uganda Ministry of Local Government before the president made a major cabinet reshuffle last December.
The 73 year old retired army man at the level of Colonel is a Member of Parliament for Mwenge County Central, Kyenjojo District, in western Uganda.
Previous portfolios he has held include: Minister of Internal Affairs, Minister of State for Refugees and Disaster Preparedness, Minister of State for International Cooperation and acting Foreign Minister. A historical member of the rebel National Resistance Army in the bush war from 1981-86 that transformed into the ruling Movement (NRM) Butime served as Special District Administrator, Nebbi District neighboring (Murchison Falls) as his one of his postings.
Butime is a Trained Cinematographer. His hobby is soccer, with Manchester United as his favorite Premier league side, and he also enjoys farming.
