Online Visa Applications Resume After E-Visa System Upgrade

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) has announced the resumption of online visa applications following the successful completion of an upgrade to the E-VISA system. This marks a significant milestone in enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of visa services in Uganda.

In a statement released by the Immigration Office, the newly upgraded system allows individuals to conveniently apply for a range of services, including visas, work and entry permits, certificates of residence, and various types of passes, such as student, dependent, internship/research, visitor, and special passes. Additionally, citizenship applications are now seamlessly processed through the online portal.

Despite the upgrade, the cost of a visa remains unchanged at $50. The Immigration Office also confirmed that personalization services have resumed at the Kampala head offices, providing applicants with a streamlined process to obtain their documents.

This upgrade is expected to improve user experience, reduce processing times, and make it easier for travellers, students, and workers to access the necessary permits and documentation for their stay in Uganda. The DCIC encourages all eligible applicants to utilize the enhanced online platform for a more efficient application process.

The resumption of the online visa system is seen as part of the government’s broader commitment to digital transformation and improving service delivery for both domestic and international stakeholders.
