John Paul Ssemyalo, CEO of Pebuu Africa, expressed his enthusiasm about the venture, noting that it represents a crucial step in transforming local communities by enhancing digital access to finance, telecommunications, and retail. “We’re modernizing last-mile access through scalable technology solutions, driving our mission to connect every corner of Uganda,” he stated during the partnership’s launch at Hamilton Telecom’s Kololo headquarters. Pebuu’s existing 320 service points currently support over 50,000 SMEs nationwide, creating a solid foundation for Hamilton Telecom to serve some of Uganda’s most isolated areas, including Bugala Island, Bidi Bidi and Rhino refugee camps, as well as national parks like Kibale.

Hamilton Telecom’s Board Chairman, John Kamya, highlighted the potential of this collaboration to deliver quality mobile services to Uganda’s remote regions. “This partnership opens new doors for providing a top-notch customer experience in areas where connectivity and digital services used to be a luxury,” Kamya explained. “We’re bringing affordable, reliable mobile services to traditionally hard-to-reach locations.”

This partnership comes at a time when digital adoption in Uganda is rapidly increasing. According to the Uganda Communications Commission’s Q4 2024 report, there has been a significant rise in digital connectivity, with 38.5 million telephone subscribers and 16.4 million mobile internet users nationwide. This growing user base underscores the immense potential for businesses like Pebuu and Hamilton Telecom to influence Uganda’s digital future.

By incorporating Pebuu’s advanced data-driven management technology, this collaboration aims to streamline onboarding, training, mapping, and monitoring processes for both customers and retailers. Trusted by leading financial institutions such as Stanbic, Centenary, and Housing Finance, Pebuu’s platform provides real-time tracking and geo-mapping capabilities, ensuring reliable service delivery and regulatory compliance.

Looking ahead, Paxtel Telecom plans to introduce innovative mobile solutions, including mobile money services and customized data packages, to cater to the specific needs of Ugandans in remote areas. Together, Pebuu and Hamilton Telecom aspire to bridge the gap between traditional and digital communities, strengthening Uganda’s digital ecosystem and unlocking new opportunities for digital inclusion across the country.

With this partnership, Pebuu Africa and Hamilton Telecom are not only setting a new standard in telecom distribution but also laying the foundation for a digitally empowered Uganda, bringing connectivity and opportunity to even the most isolated regions.
