Rwanda removes 14 day compulsory Quarantine as Airport reopens

Rwanda’s Ministry of Infrastructure has announced plans to reopen Kigali International Airport, scheduled commercial flight operations starting August 1st 2020 after almost five months of temporary closure since March this year when Covid-19 circulated worldwide as major Airlines and International Airports put on halt all forms of transport including international air travel.

According to a press statement released on Saturday July 4, the ministry of infrastructure revealed that the reopen comes after guidance and recommendations from the Ministry of Health and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to ensure proper health and safety of all passengers, crews and staff as all airport operations will have to adhere to the discussed health guidelines without failure.

All passengers opting to have flights via the airport including those in transit will be required to show proof of a Covid-19 PCR negative test from a certified laboratory taken within 72 hours of prior to arriving in Rwanda.

For travelers entering Rwanda, a second PCR test will be conducted upon arrival with results delivered within 24 hours during which time they will remain in designated hotels at individual cost.

Rwanda’s reopening of Kigali International Airport comes shortly after the country reopened its Tourism sector last month while enforcing Covid-19 safety and health guidelines as international tourists that bear Coronavirus are not allowed to traverse the Country’s natural wonders.

Finally, the Ministry of infrastructure indicated that it will be announcing updates on the situation as changes come in.
