The Aircraft was on an inbound flight from Nairobi scheduled to land at 5:31 am.

According to official communication from RwandAir, the airbus with flight number WB464 upon landing at Entebbe International airport got involved in a runway excursion due to bad weather. However, all passengers managed to disembark safely with no reported injuries.

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority revealed that the second (alternate) runway 12/30 was functional for small and light aircraft.

The Authority said, ‘’All efforts to evacuate the aircraft off the runway shred is underway to have it open for other inbound flights, as investigations into the matter kick-off.

“All efforts are underway to remove the aircraft from the runway strip so that the main runway can return to full use,” the aviation authority said in a statement.

This is not the first time a plane has skidded off the runway.

In January 2019, an Ethiopian Airlines (Boeing 737-800) carrying 139 people skidded off the runway when it landed just after midnight.

Currently, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority on Thursday morning 21st April,2022 announced that the Airport is now open after Wednesday temporal shutdown for safety and precautionary measures following the RwandAir aircraft incident, although this has caused panic and confusion amongst stranded passengers after the aircraft has been successful removed from the runway.
