Rwanda’s flagship carrier on Friday last week revealed that flights from Rwanda aboard Rwandair to and from Guangzhou – China are halted until further notice as further jurisdiction on when to recommence will be announced in February.
This move follows the declaration of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organisation, the WHO, in relation to the coronavirus outbreak as cases in Rwanda have literally surged in the Country.
That means flights from Rwanda’s capital – Kigali, and the Chinese city of Guangzhou are currently not available.
However, the Airline added that all affected passengers by the decision will be re-routed, refunded or accepted to change their Air tickets to a new date.
Rwandair also stressed that flight from Kigali to Mumbai will have to continue as per schedule.
The Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority is in the process of notifying other airlines entering Rwanda that any passengers on board their aircraft, who have travelled from China, will upon arrival be screened for potential exposure to novel coronavirus, and may be quarantined for two weeks for observation and case management.
