The weekend beginning Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th March 2019 will be quite busy on Uganda’s social scene with a number of events lined up for the party goers right from music events to sports events.
As always at Guide2Uganda we shall do our best to summarize for you all the events so that you can make up your pick. Here is what’s happening on the Events Calender this Weekend.
01. Saturday Night fever at Guvnor
This Saturday, Guvnor Uganda will be hosting the Saturday Night fever featuring illest Deejays such as Dash, Selector Jay, VJ Baby Love, DJ Bryan and MC Mozeso.
Dress code will be smart casual as entrance is Shs 30K, Doors open by 9pm.
02. Zzina Awards at Theatre La Bonita
This Friday, Galaxy Fm annual music awards ceremony will be taking place at Theatre La Bonita.
The awards that seek to recognise the various roles played by artistes and key industry players for their hardwork laboured toward the success of Uganda’s music industry will see many granted.
Lots of awards and performances to be awarded to nominees.
03. Madoxx and Afrigo Band at Jahazi Pier Munyonyo
Wondering where to catch some performances this Sunday, Madoxx Ssematimba and Afrigo band comprising Rachael Magoola, Joanita Kawalya, Rudeboy Devoh, and Moses Matovu will be performing live at Jahazi pier Munyonyo in a show dubbed ”Abasunsunzi abasokaawo” music fete.
Doors will be open by 6pm as entrance is UGX10K.
04. Burna Boy Experience at Sheraton Kampala Hotel this Friday
This Friday, get to party with Nigerian based dancehall artiste. Known for his popular hits, On the Low and Gbona.
The Nigerian song star, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy will be making his second visit to Uganda this Friday 22nd March, as he will perform at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel Gardens.
Burna Boy, who is currently doing a worldwide music tour, first visited Uganda in September 2014.
The Nigerian songwriter recently won four awards at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, including African Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year for his 2018 hit single, Ye, which remains one of his most listened-to songs.
Tickets are sold at Ugx 50,000 and the show begins at 6pm.
05. Views & Vibes 4 at the Five horsemen this Friday
The Views and Vibes season four will be happening at the five horsemen located along Ggaba Road.
Go party as you catch some Rhythm to start off with. Mark aka Ejuku Hitter and friends are kicking the night off with a bang – live drumming/music sessions at the open air rooftop.
Lots of music as played by the newest DJs such as El Deejay Leo and Moses Rallo.
Doors will be open by 9pm.
06. Comedy Store happening this Saturday in Mbarara
Alex Muhangi’s weekly comedy store will this Saturday be hosted in Mbarara at hotel triangle.
Expect a lot of Comedy from MC Mariachi, MC Kapale, Eric Omondi, Madrat and Chiko, Jaja Bruce, Tamale Mirundi, Mawulana and Reign, Kalela, Mighty Family, Bobby Brown and Nilo Nilo, DJ Lolah and music performances by Weasel and Rema Namakula.
Entrance is Shs 10K for Kids and Shs 20K for Adults.
07. France – Uganda Friendship week at Kyadondo Rugby
The France – Uganda friendship week that began on Saturday 16th March with the Francophonie Day celebrations at Ecole Francaise Kampala and will end this Saturday 23rd March 2019 with a Rugby XV match between Uganda and France at Kyandondo Rugby Grounds.
Lots of cultural performances, Fashion, Food, Music, dance, Poets, Sports among many more activities throughout the entire week.
08. Apio Moro performing at The Square
Japadhola born Apio Moro, reknown world music singer will be performing live at the square in a show dubbed ”Choore” which literally means move closer.
She will be supported by Shifah Musisi, Zoey ”the story teller” and Kenneth Mugabi. Entrance is UGX50K.
09. Sosolya Undugu Dance Troupe
Get to watch Sosolya Undugu Dance Troupe every Sunday starting 5PM to 6.30PM for beautiful songs & dance with Sosolya Undugu Dance Academy as they while away the evening to a beautiful sunset overlooking Lake Victoria. They bring you performances from the East Africa Community.
Entrance Charges: Adults above 21 – Ugx 20,000, Ages 12 to 20 – Ugx 10,000, Children under 11 years – Free entrance.
10. Learning Germany language at Goethe Zentrum Kampala this Friday
Goethe Zentrum Kampala will this Friday 22nd March hold their monthly language activity. Join them and learn some Germany language therein starting from A1 upto C1 level.
Most focus will be about Pippi Langstrumpf which is the main character in an eponymous series of children’s books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren and very well-known in Europe, especially in Germany.
Pippi, a red-haired, freckled, unconventional and superhumanly strong girl, is playful and unpredictable. She does not want to grow up and loves spending time on adventures with her four best friends: her horse and monkey, as well as the neighbour’s children, Tommy and Annika.
Although being a children’s book, also adults can enjoy the various topics in the stories and can be affected by Pippi’s ease and lightheartedness.
Catch lots of Games, Activities and Snacks for free starting 5pm.
