01. Uganda unveils virtual Safari to revamp tourism sector – Starting Tuesday, Uganda is set to revamp her tourism sector that earlier suffered months of shrinkage with a live-streamed, virtual safari. The virtual tour will feature six videographers and photographers traversing across the country. It has been promoted by the Ugandan government to re attract tourists to the pearl after many parts of the world have hardly emerged from travel restrictions and lockdowns caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic. 02. Entebbe International Airport opened, Mandatory Quarantine lifted – During his 20th address to the nation on government measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country, Uganda’s president announced that the country’s international airport and land borders will reopen and resume operations for tourists after over six-months closure. 03. Airlines announce dates for recommencing flights to Entebbe airport-Uganda – It’s all good news for tourism, travel and transport in the EastAfrican country of Uganda with the nation having re-opened its aviation sector to tourists. Following the lifting of restrictions on cross boarder travel and flights, Qatar Airways and Rwanda Air are scheduled to resume flights to Entebbe International Airport on October 2 and October 1 respectively. 04. Uganda’s Tourism industry set for a full-scale comeback – With months of lock down characterized by little and no tourism activities, Uganda wants to welcome tourists once again. This comes ahead of the scheduled reopening of borders including the Entebbe International Airport on 1st October 2020.The proclamation of open boarders and airports in the country was made last evening by Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni in his televised address to the nation and world at large where he announced the lifting of entry to tourists. 05. UTB partners with Agribusiness Enterprises to promote Agro-Tourism – Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) during the weekend embarked on a Familiarization trip to the Western region to
pay a visit to Agribusiness Enterprises located in the districts of Isingiro, Bushenyi and Mbarara.
The FAM trip comes shortly after UTB through its Tourism diversification strategy opted to partner with Agribusiness Enterprises across 18 regions and 51 districts in Uganda so as merge Agriculture and Tourism hence the birth of Agro-Tourism. This merger comes after the board also identified opportunities presented by the Agricultural sector despite the fact that it employs upto 70% of the Country’s vast population. 07. IATA calls for systematic COVID-19 testing before departure – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) called for the development and deployment of rapid, accurate, affordable, easy-to-operate, scalable and systematic COVID-19 testing for all passengers before departure as an alternative to quarantine measures in order to re-establish global air connectivity. IATA will work through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and with health authorities to implement this solution quickly.

The airline has spent years building up its route network to connect the most number of passengers worldwide. Thus, over the years, the carrier has built up an extensive fleet. 09. How a Covid-19 vaccine will change the Aviation Industry – We all know how much the coronavirus pandemic has decimated the aviation industry. Many of the travel and personal restrictions we are becoming used to could continue until a successful vaccine has been developed. But how close we are to a vaccine, and what effect could it have on international travel? Since the COVID-19 pandemic emerged at the start of 2020, nearly 200 vaccines have been developed. Human trials have been conducted with at least 15 of them. However, creating a new vaccine is a long and laborious process than cannot be rushed. Top 10 World’s Busiest International Flight Routes Revealed – Travel data provider OAG recently published its ‘Busiest Routes 2020’ report, an investigation into the world’s busiest, most competitive, longest and shortest airline routes. The report drew upon data for the calendar year 2019.
