01. Uganda Civil Aviation Authority cautions public against unscrupulous persons disguising as delivery agents for parcels, packages at Entebbe Airport – The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has strongly condemned the duping practices as conmen have since severely robbed people of their monies all in the name of delivering them with packages/parcels from abroad. The Authority therefore urges the general public to stand vigilant of crooks that call to excite and convince their victims by posting photos of the alleged parcels on their Whatsapp or Facebook inbox and then solicit for money transmission via mobile money to allegedly clear the commodities. Emirates Airline presents integrated biometric path at the airport for added convenience – As part of Emirates’ commitment to continuous innovation and an unmatched customer experience, the airline has launched an integrated biometric path at Dubai International airport (DXB). Mitigating the risks of business travel and bringing confidence back – Since spring, COVID-19 has overwhelmed businesses of every kind around the world and taken a stranglehold of the travel industry, causing mass restrictions and disruptions. There have, however, been encouraging developments in recent weeks, as the UAE began issuing entry visas again, and Saudi Arabia allowing expatriates and stranded nationals to return to the country from mid-September. Saudi Arabia confirmed that it also plans to resume issuing tourism visas from 2021. 07. Where Will Turkish Airlines Fly Its Airbus A350 Aircraft? – After a six month delay, Turkish Airlines finally took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 last week. The question on everybody’s mind is where it will fly to first? Thanks to the aviation website Routesonline.com we now know that it will be used on domestic routes first before being deployed on long-haul flights. The reason airlines put new aircraft on short-haul routes first is for crew familiarization. British Airways did the same thing when it received its first Airbus A350, deploying it on a 2hr 25min hop to Madrid and back. For British Airways, Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez Airport (MAD) was the ideal route as IAG sister airline Iberia was already experienced in A350 operations. 08. Stepping Up the Fight against COVID-19: Emirates Airline goes biometric, launches vaccine distribution hub – Emirates Airline launches safer contactless passenger journey and world’s first dedicated airside cargo hub for Covid vaccine. The Airline recently launched a new contactless biometric experience for passengers at Dubai International Airport and established the world’s first airside cargo hub for a Covid-19 vaccine as part of its response to the coronavirus pandemic. 09. After Six Months: Air Tanzania revamps flights to Entebbe airport – Air Tanzania has revamped its flights to Uganda’s top International airport, Entebbe. This comes after six months of lockdown following the Covid-19 pandemic period. According to Mr Ladislaus Matindi, the Managing Director Air Tanzania, the resumption of flights to Uganda will help promote investment in the East African region. 10. Uganda’s Tourism fraternity welcomes another baby Gorilla at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda and the entire tourism fraternity are celebrating after receiving news that the Kutu Family gave birth to a baby Gorilla at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park as seen on October 21st 2020 in Rushaga Area. The birth of the latest baby Gorilla brings the group composition to 11 members based in the southern sector of the park. In August this year, shortly after the death of “Rafiki” gorilla, another baby gorilla was born in the same park bringing the number of baby gorillas born in a two months period to 2 in total.
