01. Why you should fly Uganda Airlines

Uganda Airlines is one of the world’s airlines flying the most modern fleet of aircraft. Recently, it won the award for World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet for 2021 from ch-aviation, with an average aircraft age of only 1.15 years.

The airline operates a fleet of four Bombardier CRJ900 on shorter regional routes trolling up and down the coast of East Africa and two Airbus A330-841 for long haul routes.  

02. Aircar unveiled: First Flying car inaugurated in Slovakia with inter-city maiden flight dubbed as ‘’New Era of Transport’’

The AirCar by Slovakia-based company Klein Vision completed a 35-minute journey from Nitra to Bratislava in the country at around 6am on Monday morning.

Using wings that fold away in less than three minutes and a propeller at its rear, the dual-transportation vehicle has now completed more than 40 hours of test flights.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting the entire world, many people are still skeptical about travelling and there are still a number of restrictions on travel to different countries.

04. Two Elephants led to safety after Bangladesh beach ordeal

Two elephants were being led to safety today after crossing from Myanmar to Bangladesh, getting stranded on a beach and nearly dying at sea.

Separated from the rest of their herd, the male and female elephants waded across a river marking the border on Saturday, officials said.

Dwindling forests straddling southern Bangladesh and western Myanmar are some of the last remaining habitats of endangered Asian elephants.

05. Emirates enhances IATA Travel Pass implementation, partners with Alhosn to enable even smoother Journeys

Emirates Airline now offers the IATA Travel Pass solution to customers flying to 10 cities and plans to extend it to all routes across its network in the coming weeks. In addition, Emirates has also partnered with Alhosn, the official UAE app for COVID-19 related contact tracing and health documentation, to offer its customers greater convenience and smoother journeys.

06. How the travel industry is working to restore demand

The travel and tourism industry must “provide the answers” in the recovery from COVID-19, but its fragmented approach still threatens to undermine progress.

That was the view of tourism experts who took part in a Routes Reconnected panel session focusing on-demand stimulation.

Greek tourism minister Harry Theocharis, who also chairs a United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) technical committee exploring different national approaches, outlined how important international “trust and coordination” will be for the industry’s recovery.

07. ITB China set to take place as physical event in Shanghai in November

With travel and tourism within China bouncing back to pre-pandemic levels, ITB China, the largest B2B exclusive travel trade show in China, is set as in-person event at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre from 24 – 26 November 2021, with its virtual extension from 8 November until 31 December 2021. Witnessing the positive development of travel markets and vaccine promotion in China and around the world, expectations for the return of international travel are steadily increasing.

This fall the marketplace for China’s travel industry picks up the thread and will deliver an innovative hybrid showcase for travel products and an important B2B meeting place for the travel industry.

08. Countries zealous to reopen to travel as pandemic recedes

Whilst Australia with its low vaccination rate is not in a hurry to open the international borders, around the globe, countries are taking different approaches for re-opening to travel after more than a year of virtual lockdowns in most of the world.

Countries reliant on tourism are racing to reopen borders and revive economies decimated by the pandemic.

The World Travel & Tourism Council estimates that the sector lost nearly $4.5 trillion and 62 million jobs last year. Airlines alone lost $126 billion last year and are on track to lose another $48 billion this year, according to their largest trade group.

09. Uganda Airlines partners Hahn Air-German in new interline agreement

The latest good news coming in for travel enthusiasts especially to and from EastAfrica is that Uganda’s national carrier, Uganda Airlines has reached an agreement with German based airline – Han Air in a new interline treaty.

Hahn Air is a German based airline and ticketing solutions providerthat has been in the aviation sector for quite some good time.

The Hahn Air innovative product will now be accessible to Uganda Airlines, allowing the airline’s tickets to be sold in markets where it would ordinary be impossible without membership to the local Billing and settlement Plan (BSP). BSP is a central point which consolidates ticket data and payments made by travel agents in a region or country. The interline agreement effectively expands Uganda Airlines’ distribution reach.

10. Industry partnership delivers support for Airports in fighting wildlife trafficking

Illegal wildlife trade is estimated to have an annual value of up to $23 billion

Airports Council International (ACI) World has published guidance for airports in combatting the global illegal trade of protected species of wild animals and plants.

The ACI Combatting Wildlife Trafficking Handbook has been developed with the support of the USAID Reducing Opportunities for Unlawful Transport of Endangered Species (ROUTES) Partnership to assist airports in addressing this global crime.
