As the 2021 virtual MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) draw closer, the organizers of the event have publicized a performance line-up with top stars from across the continent that will grace the happening.
On the performance list are performers like Nigeria’s Wizkid, South Africa’s Nasty C, Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz and Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones.
More on the list is Uganda’s Sheebah Karungi, Cape Verde’s Soraia Ramos, Suspect 95 from the Ivory Coast and São Tomé and Príncipe’s Calema.
The 2021 virtual MAMA awards will be broadcasted to MTV’s global audience in 180 countries. The show will air locally on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and MTV Africa (DStv Channel 130) on 20 February 2021 live from Kampala Uganda, the host nation.
The 2021 awards show is majorly dedicated to the youth of Africa and will showcase the best of African talent, culture, and music to a world wide audience.
While commenting about this year’s awards, Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager ViacomCBS Networks Africa said;
“The MAMAs are a global spotlight on African music and artists, and this lineup of incredible talent speaks to the tremendous power of music on our continent.”
“This year’s show is dedicated to the youth of Africa, and we are committed to amplifying social change through music and culture and to elevating youth voices across our platforms,” he added.
DJ Khaled, a Grammy award-winning global sensation, DJ, and record executive, will be also be on the screens streaming live from his Miami home and doubles as the international co-host for this year’s MAMA awards.
