The board further explained that visitors will only be entitled to pay park entrance fees for Semuliki National park and no extra charges shall be levied for viewing the hot springs. However, other products at the park such as birding and nature walks will be paid for as per Uganda Wildlife Authority tariff for National parks.

This was done to increase visitor experience to the park and also as a way of attracting new tourists to the park.

Commenting about this new initiative, Mr Sam Mwanda, Executive Director at UWA said: ‘’The scrapping of the fees is aimed at improving visitor experience to Semuliki National Park’’

‘’This move will greatly improve visitor experience in the park as even nationals will be attracted  and find it more convenient  and exciting to visit the park as they will no longer be required to pay separately to view the hot springs’’ He added.

However, charges for other guided nature walks go for as Shs15, 000 that is paid for by Ugandan and East African citizens.
