With its rapid network expansion, Uganda’s national carrier has this Monday September 30th 2019 launched its official flight to Bujumbura – Burundi Capital departing Entebbe International Airport and will land at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport in Bujumbura, Burundi at 16:15 hours.
Destination Burundi comes in as part of the airlines network expansion plans to launch regional flights launched from Kampala to Juba, South Sudan; Mogadishu, Somalia; Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and Bujumbura, Burundi.
Uganda Airlines will be flying to Burundi three times weekly. According to the Ministry of Works and Transport, Uganda Airlines Management together with the Ministry of Finance, Uganda is set to receive two more CRJ900 Bombardiers this October as part of the first order where two CRJ900 aircrafts were already delivered during mid-year and are fully operating regional commercial flights which will bring their total number to four (4) aircrafts. The carrier will use the additional two aircraft to expand their route network and up frequencies on select routes before 2020/2021 taking delivery of two A338Neo aircraft to then launch long haul operations to Asia and Europe.
The signing of the delivery documents in Montreal was preceded by Uganda paying a further $56 million to take ownership of the two aircraft.
