Following a series of successful flights to Nairobi, Juba and Mogadishu on the 28th and 29th, Uganda Airlines on Friday, flew its first maiden commercial flight to Dar es Salam.
The aircraft set-off from Entebbe International Airport at 9:15am and had touched down at Julius Nyerere international Airport by 11:15am.
The captain of this particular flight was Captain Karabarinde Charles who was assisted by Captain Chotum Denis.
On arrival, the passengers were welcomed by the Uganda Ambassador to Tanzania, Richard Kabonero, Tanzania government officials, Tanzania aviation officials and the media.
Aboard the flight was the Commercial Director Uganda Airlines, Jenifer Bamuturaki who said, “On behalf of the airline, I’d like to thank our Tanzanian friends for such a wonderful reception and for allowing us the privilege of flying to this beautiful country. As a commercial carrier, we’ll be flying both passengers and cargo within East Africa using our two Bombardier CRJ 900. Next month, there will be 2 more CRJs joining our fleet and as such, we will be able to expand our route network to South Africa, DRC, adding to the 7 already existing destinations of Dar Es Salam, Nairobi, Mombasa, Mogadishu, Juba, Bujumbura and Kilimanjaro.”
Following its launch, Uganda Airlines is offering promotional fares to all its destinations, for a period of two months. This, along with its direct flights to all its destinations, is meant to entice the public to fly using the new airline.
The Airline is expected to start commercial flights to and from Mombasa, Bujumbura, Kilimanjaro on 13 September 2019.
