The US mission in Uganda has issued an alert to all her citizens residing in Uganda especially in the capital Kampala of possible domestic terror attacks by terrorist groups active in the Country after a recent terror attack at Digida pork joint in Komamboga, Kawempe division claiming atleast the life of Emilly Nyinaneza of Rwandese origin and a suicide bomber attack on a swift bus enroute to Bushenyi along Lungala, Mpigi days ago.
While investigations into their origin continue, though the attacks do not appear to have targeted foreigners, anyone can be a victim of acts of violence.
As a result, the United States Embassy in Uganda early this week on Tuesday stepped up to remind her citizens to keep vigilant of the ongoing possibility of more domestic terrorist attacks in the Country and throughout the region as violent crime, including armed robbery, home invasion, and sexual assault are common.
According to a statement issued on the US mission in Uganda website, citizens of the America’s living in Uganda are tasked to remain watchful and aware of their surroundings while travelling in Uganda as well as try as much as possible to; avoid crowds and demonstrations, maintain a low profile, be aware of their surroundings, monitor local media and U.S. Embassy Facebook and Twitter pages for updates as well as be prepared to adjust plans, have travel documents and identification up to date and easily accessible, notify friends and family of their safety, stock up on food items and necessities, review their personal security plans plus all U.S. citizens who travel abroad should always have a contingency plan for emergency situations and can review their via Traveler’s Checklist.
