The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), has today flagged off the 2nd lucky winner of the digital- led campaign, Take On The Pearl. The winner Marvin Johnz is destined to enjoy the beauty abound Lake Mburo National Park and is joined by celebrity and singer Cindy Sanyu, media personality Crystal Newman and comedian, Publicity E. Natete.
Marvin landed his fortune after liking and commenting on a rare photo of Lake Mburo National Park that was posted on the Visit Uganda Social media pages bearing seven Antelopes in one picture feeding while others are watching over at the banks of the lake in the wilderness. To this, the dynamic of the virtual led challenge was taken to the Visit Uganda twitter handle with the Post “Know the destination? Headover to our TWITTER page, tell us where it is and why you would love to be there…given a chance to #TakeOnThePearl.” As one correct answer with most likes by 3pm on Tuesday won an all paid expense – premium trip to that particular tourism attraction courtesy of the board in partnership with the Private sector involved in Tourism.
Marvin Johnz, joins the cohort of Tugume Dominic who last week won his maiden trip experience to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa & Mbale – Eastern Uganda transiting all throughout the weekend with ballistic excursions outside Kampala, the Capital City of Uganda.
On the Lake Mburo trip, Johnz will take a glimpse of Uganda’s diverse Wildlife and beautiful natural sceneries. He will among others enjoy; a game drive in the lush Savannah Park, sundowner boat ride on Lake Mburo, biking, horseback riding and a tour of the Igongo Cultural museum that tells a story of the west and southwestern Bantu people of Uganda.
An excited Johnz said, “I am so excited to be on this trip and to have the opportunity to travel my country. I can’t wait to enjoy this trip and share my experience with my fellow Ugandans.”
According to the UTB CEO, Lilly Ajarova, the campaign aims to both create awareness and also educate Ugandans on the various tourist spots around the country; with emphasis on What? When? How? Who? And Where to Travel.
She concluded by encouraging all Ugandans to love and travel Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.

- Post the contest photo on Visit Uganda social media pages every Friday.
- Get people to respond with name of the place and the reasons why they want to go to that place, for a chance to win the trip.
- People get their friends and family to come and like their comments.
- Correct comment with highest likes by Tuesday of the following week is selected the week’s winner.
Destination – Lake Mburo National Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Uganda full of amazing natural wonders created as a result of dry and rocky surrounding on the West and wetlands on the East thereby enabling it to have an auspicious environment that can facilitate ingoing tourism activities to take place and also to occur and keep the animals in good state, the park has mighty creeks which are 50 kilometers high and canals that connect the 13 lakes that are found in this area 5 of which lie between the boundaries of the park with lake Mburo the largest of all. Lake Mburo National Park stands as one Uganda’s semi-park covering an area of 260 square kilometers with a magnificent elevation which goes between 1220 m-1828 m above sea level and also can be accessed via the Mbarara – Masaka highway which takes a duration of about 3.5 hours from the vast Kampala city and a total distance of 240 kilometers is taken to access the park.
