The second translocation process will begin tomorrow 07th August 2018 and will see giraffes captured at Murchison falls released to Kidepo Valley National Park.

The flag off team was led by UWA Executive Director Mr. Sam Mwandha, Director Conservation Mr. John Makombo, Deputy Director Field operations, Mr. Charles Tumwesigye and partners from Giraffe Conservation Foundation.

The translocation process is established to boost population numbers and also allow species diversity. The approach is considered vital in enhancing ecosystems with sparse populations, and depopulating areas of high densities to ensure ecological balance and sustainable conservation.
