Uganda will on the 2nd of September will host the second biennial APS; African Primatological Society conference in Entebbe. The first conference took place in Bingerville, Cote d’Ivoiry in 2017 and saw an attendance of 150 primatologists from 22 countries across Africa and the rest of the world.
The scheduled APS conference will take place at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe and will last for a week. The conference is also expected to attract primatologists from 22 countries from across Africa and the rest of the world.
This year’s conference which has been prearranged by the African Primatological Society (APS), an affiliate to the International Primatological Society, will be conducted under the theme “Primate Conservation in Africa, Challenges & Opportunities.”
According to the event organizers, the conference will aim at stimulating a greater engrossment of African stakeholders in research and conservation of African primates.
APS has since invited primate researchers and conservation managers to send in their abstracts under the key conference subthemes in African Primatology including ecology, ethology, systematics, taxonomy, distribution, and epidemiology.
Others include anthropology, human-primate interactions, conflicts, education, conservation, disease, human-primate health, and ecotourism.
