Established in 2018, the African Tourism Board is an association that is internationally hailed continuously promoting the advancement of travel and tourism to the African region.

Uganda is the latest country to join the organization aimed at promoting African countries’ tourism.

Following a survey conducted among expatriates, Uganda was described as the friendliest country globally by the BBC report in 2017. Together with astonishing landscapes, wildlife, state of the art restaurants and bars, hotels, and lodges to year-round summer, this country is a perfect travel and tourism destination.

Commenting about the patternship and membership, the UTB Chief Executive Officer, Miss Lilly Ajarova said that it was an honor and delight for Tourism Uganda to join the Africa Tourism Board.

She further commented that they were optimistic that the board would steer responsible development of travel and tourism to the African region, play a vital role in binding opportunities for the continent and position Uganda as a premier destination for visitors around the world.

Alain St.Ange, the President Africa Tourism Board also had this to say;

“As I say welcome Uganda, I must take this opportunity to salute their tenacity and sincerity for tourism. We undertake as the Africa Tourism Board to be by their side at this critical point in the re-development of Uganda Airline which coincides with the Tourism Board’s drive in bringing to the world the key USBs of Uganda. We are honored to have Uganda as a Member.”

Being a landlocked country in the Eastern part of Africa, Uganda has a diverse landscape that incorporates the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and vast Lake Victoria, the worlds second largest natural water lake.

Uganda boosts of immense wildlife varieties including chimpanzees as well as rare birds. The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned mountain gorilla sanctuary habituating more than half of the world’s gorilla population.

Also Uganda is home to a range of ethnic groups who speak different lingoes such as Luganda, English, Bantu, Swahili, Nilotic, and Lumasaba. The major languages spoken in Uganda are English ad Swahili.

Having a population of approximately 40million people, Christians make up 85.2% and 12% being Muslims. Other religions take up the remaining percentages.
