The weekend beginning Friday 15th to Sunday 17th March 2019 will be quite busy on Uganda’s social scene with a number of events lined up for the party goers right from music events to sports events.
As always at Guide2Uganda we shall do our best to summarize for you all the events so that you can make up your pick. Here is what’s happening on the Events Calender this Weekend.
01. Comedy Store with Alex Muhangi this Thursday at UMA, Lugogo
This Thursday, Comedy store is going on down at UMA Lugogo starting 6Pm. Catch comedy blended with music from Aziz Azion, Cindy and Roden Y Kabako.
Comedians; MC Kapale, Snake and Zolo, Amooti Omubaranguzi, Maulana and Reign, Dr T Amale, and Mighty Family will be making you laugh your ribs out.
Steve Keys and DJ Lolah will be making some performances as the event is hosted by Alex Muhangi.
Entrance is UGX20, 000 Ordinary and UGX50, 000 VIP
02. Celebrating the life of fallen dancehall star ‘’AK47’’ at DNA Lounge
It’s now four years since Uganda lost one of the youngest dancehall rising stars, the late Emmanuel Mayanja A.k.a AK47. This Thursday, DNA Lounge will be celebrating the life of AK47.
Lots of AK47’s music to be played together with performances by featured Ugandan artistes. Music mixes by DJ Ras Brown, DJ King, and DJ Urban star.
Showtime is 8PM.
03. Amnesia Campus Night ft. Twazikoze Boys- Hit Nature & Nutty Neithan
This Thursday campus night at Club Amnesia, Nutty Neithan and Hit Nature will both premiere the latest music videos ‘’Kwata Eccupa’’ and ‘’Twazikoze’’.
Get ready to dance and party like never before as Deejays; Nimrod, Magic Switch, Denno, Luidee and Herbert play you music all night long.
Club beer will go for UGX4K as entrance is free for campusers with valid IDs.
04. NSSF Kampala 7 Hills Hash Run at Pearl Of Africa Primary School
The NSSF Kampala 7 hills hash run now in its 4th year will be happening this Sunday at Pearl Of Africa Primary School, Nsambya.
This run is more of a fun and non – competitive event that covers the seven hills of the city. Participants will this time take on the 21Km race around Kampala starting 6AM.
05. France – Uganda Friendship week 2019 begins this Saturday
The France – Uganda friendship week begins this Saturday 16th March with the Francophonie Day celebrations at Ecole Francaise Kampala and will end on Saturday 23rd March 2019 with a Rugby XV match between Uganda and France at Kyandondo Rugby Grounds.
Lots of cultural performances, Fashion, Food, Music, dance, Poets, Sports among many more activities throughout the entire week.
06. S.K.U.R.T East African Mash Up happening this Saturday at DNA Lounge
This Saturday March 16th, Pallaso and Nina Roz will be hosting the first East African Mash Up party at DNA Lounge covering South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania just to celebrate best of the best artistes in those specific regions.
Upto 5 surprise Deejays across the region are on list to make you dance till wee hours of the morning.
Resident Deejays; Clive, Jose and Urban star will also groove you down with the best hits.
Entrance is UGX10, 000, UGX20, 000 VIP and UGX300, 000 VVIP and Showtime is 8PM
07. HiPipo Music Awards to take place this Saturday at Kampala Serena Hotel
This Saturday 16th March, Uganda’s longest survived annual entertainment awarding ceremony, HiPipo music awards will be back for the eighth edition at the Kampala Serena hotel starting 6PM.
Uganda’s motor mouthed kick boxing Champion Golola Moses will co-host the event alongside Spirit Fm’s Jim Resley as the official Emcees.
The award will feature performances from a couple of Ugandan musicians including diaspora based female singer Joanita Zachariassen.
08. Sosolya Undugu Dance Troupe
Get to watch Sosolya Undugu Dance Troupe every Sunday starting 5PM to 6.30PM for beautiful songs & dance with Sosolya Undugu Dance Academy as they while away the evening to a beautiful sunset overlooking Lake Victoria. They bring you performances from the East Africa Community.
Entrance Charges: Adults above 21 – Ugx 20,000, Ages 12 to 20 – Ugx 10,000, Children under 11 years – Free entrance.
09. Blues & Booze at the Big Kafunda this Friday
Big Kafunda will be hosting a night dubbed Blues and Booze. Get to enjoy nonstop rhythms and blues on their happy hour session from 4pm till 8pm as you dodge around Kampala traffic.
The big Kafunda is located along Gaba road opposite bank of Baroda.
10. Amakula International Film Festival 12th Edition happening at Uganda National Museum
From Friday 15th till Sunday 17th March, catch the Amakula Film Festival at the Uganda Museum starting 2pm – 6pm for all Day time screenings as entrance is absolutely free and Drive in Cinema starting 7pm for only UGX10K daily pass.
The Amakula International Film Festival is Uganda’s oldest independent film festival that aims to contribute to a vibrant local film industry, by broadening access to and developing audiences for quality African film production; inspiring local film makers to produce quality local films based on own stories; facilitating, presenting and promoting local film productions; and offering a professional networking platform for the film making community in East Africa and beyond.
