Leading Personalities walked away with awards prior to their efforts rendered in promoting Uganda’s tourism to the world.
Last Friday, the annual glamorous Ekkula Tourism Awards took place at the Kampala Sheraton hotel where tourism stakeholders attended in colossal numbers to grace the awards ceremony.
Key tourism personalities and brands that have on good will managed to promote Uganda’s tourism both on local and global level bagged accolades as decided by the vetting team from brand ambassadors 256, fans and stakeholders in the entire tourism fraternity.
Among those that shined big were State minister for Tourism, Wildlife and antiquities Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi who received the award for ‘’best tourism personality of the year’’, Zari Hassan as ‘’best tourism ambassador of the year , business mogul Sudhir Ruparelia was awarded for ‘’best tourism achiever’’ and Bakiga Nation a yearly social gathering event walked away with the award for “Best Cultural Promotional Event”.

Sarah Kagingo as the ‘’best exceptional social media promoter’’
Matias Mugisha awarded for ‘’Best tourism photographer’’
Kigezi Tourism Cluster won for ‘’Most Active Tourism Cluster’’
Kika Dance troupe bagged award for ‘’Finest Traditional Dance Troupe’’
Rhino Fund UG-Ziwa Rhino sanctuary awarded for “Best Private Wildlife Conservation Centre”
Association for Uganda Tour Operators won award for ‘’Most User Friendly Tourism Association’’
Best food event of the year award went to ‘’Rolex Festival’’
Abryanz Fashion style and fashion show won award for “Fashion Event of the Year”
Award for Overall best tourism event went to ‘’Nyege Nyege Festival’’
Safe Boda won award for “Remarkable Digital Transporter”
Aerolink bagged award for “Best Airline of the Year (Domestic)”
Ethiopian Airline was awarded for “Best Airline of the Year International (Economy Class)”
Award for “Best Airline of the Year International (Business class)’’ went to Emirates Airline
Café Javas won award for ‘’Exceptional Fast Foods Restaurant’’
The winner in the category of “Best Ugandan Cuisine Restaurant” was Shaka Zulu Restaurant
The winner in the category of “Best Standard Service” was Wash and wills hotel (from the land of bamasaba and Imbalu circumcision in Mbale
Award for “Best Eco Lodge’ went to Serenada Eco Resort
Skyz hotel won for “Outstanding New Hotel of the Year”
Speke Resort Munyonyo bagged award for “Best Service and Luxury Business Hotel”
Former UTB, CEO Mr Stephen Asiimwe also received the ‘’Special service Recognition’ award
Award for “Young Tourism Achiever” went Nataliey Bitature (Protea Hotel/Skyz hotel)
Also the awards committee recognised Outstanding tour guides; Arshley Brian, Kyeyune Ben, Kahungu Dennis, and Katende Geofrey.
This year’s Ekkula pearl of Africa tourism awards ran under the theme “Sharing our cultural diversity through the digital transformation for bigger tourism numbers.’’
