As business travelers and entrepreneurs increasingly opt to combine business and leisure travel, Tanzania has drastically grown to be a leading destination for meetings, conferences and events over the years. Her enterprising growth within the business tourism sector has been attributed to Tanzania’s improved international acknowledgement for a tourism industry second to none in terms of diversity and quality of experiences.
One of the highly visited areas in Tanzania where increased business and travel meetings have been noted is Arusha. The district doubles as the site for the East African community headquarters and regularly receives East African leaders who converge to air out contributions in the East African community parliament.
While speaking to the press in an earlier interview, Elishilia. the CEO Arusha International Conference Centre commented that they had a number of ambitious plans and were steadily preparing the country for the big time as concerns business tourism.
“Arusha is home to some of the most acclaimed natural sites in the world such as the Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Ngorongoro crater. Our centre is closely associated with these amazing sites because of our proximity to them. We want people to think about these wonders of the world whenever the Arusha International Conference Centre is mentioned.”
Some of the reasons that make Tanzania a prominent home and destination for African meetings, conferences and Events includes;
World’s Best Safari Experiences such as at the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park with the Serengeti being a great view for the all-year-round wildebeest migration. Lake Manyara, with scenery Ernest Hemingway called “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”, a 90-minute drive from Arusha offers another eye catching and easy to navigate splendid game drive circuit.
Also, the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro (the peak of Africa), with a number of great hotels and lodges around has pronounced its self as an exquisite popular spot for meetings and events, equally adept in meeting the needs of hikers or visitors attending meetings in the shadow of the spectacular mountain.
The Growing Connectivity and Infrastructure with in Tanzania can’t be left out. One of the principal barriers to developing intra-African tourism remains the connectivity between nations. In Tanzania, the return of national carrier Air Tanzania in 2016 followed by the establishment of direct flights to Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa was a significant boost to the tourism industry. The national carrier’s routes are complemented by an extensive network of airlines including Precision Air, Ethiopian Airlines and South African Airways serving the country. Investment continues into the road infrastructure which connects the business and tourism hubs of the country.
More so, completing the incredible diversity of Tanzanian tourism options are spectacular Indian Ocean islands such as Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia Island. The ancient city of Stone Town on Zanzibar is a UNESCO world heritage site and is a spectacular maze of history to enjoy getting lost in.
