01. Soak in the sun and pack extra with the airline: Emirates to offer special fares to enjoy Dubai this holiday season – Emirates Airline is giving travellers from Uganda the opportunity to fly better to Dubai with a special offer for all its classes; Economy, Business and First Class. Travellers from Uganda planning a trip to Dubai can enjoy special fares on travel, in addition to excess baggage. Fares in Economy class starting from USD430 will include an additional piece of baggage and Business Class fares start from USD1,900 including an additional piece of baggage. First class fares start from USD3640. These special fares and extra baggage allowance will enable travellers from Uganda make the best of their Dubai holiday so they can shop and pack, stress free. 02. Europe’s second lockdown set to affect most Airlines that fly to the Continent – Europe’s second lockdown will hit airline bookings in the Gulf but business is expected to return in time for the busy holiday period as European expats living in the Middle East flock home to see friends and relatives at Christmas. England this week became the latest country in Europe to be plunged into a second lockdown, joining Belgium, France, Germany and Greece, all major markets for GCC airlines, in introducing renewed restrictions preventing people from travelling. 03. Covid-19: No Passenger PCR test required before travelling to Dubai from UK airports – Passengers have the option of taking a test on their arrival, which will boost air travel demand from UK to Dubai. Passengers coming from the UK and Germany now have the option of taking a Covid-19 PCR test on arrival in Dubai instead of presenting a negative test certificate before their departure, according to an update on Emirates’ website today. 04. Back to New York: Kenya Airways to take up again New York Flights after 7 Months – The flag carrier of Kenya, Kenya Airways, resumed its newest long-distance route from the East African nation to New York City. This service was suspended due to the global health crisis and has not been offered in the last seven months. 05. The New Boeing 777X Vs The 777-300ER – Here are the Modifications – The much-anticipated Boeing 777X should enroll into service with Lufthansa by early 2022. With so much drama surrounding the 777X program, one could think the plane has been around forever when, in actual sense, it has hardly taken off or even landed. 06. Covid-19 testing alone is not sufficient to restart travel – While the proliferation of pre-flight or on arrival testing in place of restrictive quarantines is welcome, is it enough to restart travel effectively? Aviation consultancy firms believe it is not, and is recommending a suite of measures to complement the current testing regime, a blueprint it calls ‘Testing+’. Airports and airlines are beginning to roll out rapid pre-flight testing to enable widespread international travel to resume. 07. Ethiopian Airlines’ China flight ban prolonged Until January 2021 – Ethiopian Airlines has had its ban extended on its flight from Addis Ababa to Shanghai Pudong. The flight has already been banned for five weeks, but Chinese authorities agreed to an extension as more passengers have tested positive for COVID-19. The ban continues until at least January 1st, 2021. Ethiopian Airlines received its first temporary suspension way back in August after six people tested positive. However, the ban lasted just one week. China enforced the second ban because five passengers on flight ET684 on October 6th tested positive for COVID-19. 08. Flydubai opens up on Tel Aviv Flight Ideas – Dubai based carrier flydubai has this Wednesday revealed its plans to open up flights to the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. Flights will run twice a day from late November following the agreement between the two nations earlier this year. Earlier this year, the world was surprised by a shock diplomatic deal announced between the UAE and Israel. The announcement was surprising as the UAE has previously refused to recognize Israel. Beauty pageant, Miss Tourism partners with Uganda Airlines as the grand finale weighs in – Miss Tourism beauty pageant has partnered with Uganda Airlines in a bid to boost tourism as the country prepares for its first scientific crowning ceremony taking place this weekend. Recently, while attending a breakfast meeting at café javas, Victoria Mall Entebbe yeaterday, the Chief Executive Officer Miss Tourism Uganda Mr. Allan Kanyike said this year’s theme; ‘Beauty, Brains and Change’ (BBC) sets out to encourage Ugandans to embrace local tourism.
