Last evening, Wednesday 19th December, hundreds of Ugandans gathered at Entebbe International Airport to welcome 22 year Old Miss Uganda 2018/2019 turned Miss World Africa, Quin Abenakyo who represented Africa at the Miss World beauty contests in tropical Chinese island of Hainan.
Quin was one of the five selected beauty queens who put up an exciting performance during the Miss World glitzy event as most of her credit came with concerns to problems surfaced by the girl child in Uganda and Africa atlarge.
On 9th December, Quin Abenakyo was coronated with the prestigious African crown for ‘’Miss World Africa’’ during a dinner held at Visun Royal Yacht Hotel in Sanya China.
Other beauty queens coronated on the same evening included;
1. Miss World Europe – Belarus, Maria VASILEVICH
2. Miss World Caribbean – Jamaica, Kadijah ROBINSON
3. Miss World Americas – Mexico, Vanessa PONCE DE LEÓN
4. Miss World Asia and Oceania – Thailand, Nicolene Pichapa LIMSNUKAN
Music legend Sister Sledge joined the queens on stage to receive an honorary Beauty With A Purpose Award from Miss World.
By 9:15am, Aboard Emirates Airlines on Wednesday 19th December, Quin Abenakyo arrived at Entebbe International Airport only to be received as a hero by multitudes of Ugandans, Family members, friends among other society people who welcomed her with excitement.
Upon arrival, she paid courtesy visit at State House Entebbe to meet His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who welcomed her back to the Pearl Of Africa officially as he took to his Social Media and posted, ‘’ I congratulate our muzukulu on these accolades and also salute her for recently completing her university degree course. She is a true definition of beauty coupled with brains.
She also told me she is an advocate of responsible living among young people. She is specifically focusing on helping young girls lead responsible, healthy lifestyles.
I must commend Abenakyo’s parents for raising her with values. Many young people today rush into promiscuity and ruin their lives, yet a little patience and completing school would give them a foundation on which to enjoy the rest of their lives with their spouses.
Abenakyo is indeed a tall, beautiful Musoga girl. My only concern is that she was wearing Indian hair. I have encouraged her to keep her natural, African hair. We must show African beauty in its natural form.
Again, I congratulate Muzukulu Abenakyo on this feat. Going forward, the government will support the Miss Uganda Foundation’’.
Very soon, Quin Abenakyo will be Uganda’s Tourism icon as earlier mentioned in a comment by State Minister for Tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi.
The New Miss World Africa, Quin Abenakyo will be celebrating her victory at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel this Thursday 20th December 2018.
