Buganda Katikkiro Mayiga lays foundation stone for new Rotary Center

Buganda premier Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga on Saturday 30th June 2018, laid a foundation stone on a 1.5 acres of land provided by Buganda Kingdom in Kira Municipality where the Rotary Center of Excellence is to be constructed.

The Rotary Club of Bweyogerere – Namboole together with Buganda kingdom partnered to have a vocational training center built next to Kira Gombolola headquarters so as to equip youth and women practical skills for self-reliance and sustainability.

Rotary Club of Bweyogerere – Namboole President, Rotarian Ruth Mukasa said the project is in line with two of the six Rotary focus areas of basic education, literacy, Economic and community development. Adding it will help address the issues of youth and women unemployment which is very rampant in the municipality and Uganda at large.

The President of the Rotary Club of Bweyogerere-Namboole Rotarian Ruth Mukasa in her address thanked the Kingdom of Buganda for its generosity in providing the land and said the project is in line with two of the six Rotary focus areas of Basic education and literacy and Economic and community development. She said it will hopefully help address the issue of youth and women unemployment which is rampant in Kira Municipality and Uganda at large.

Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga lauded Bweyogerere – Namboole Rotary Club and whole fraternity for striving to make a difference in communities in which to live. He also asked the local community to support the project since will directly benefit them and help up skill youth and women in the area.

He later planted a Muvule tree at the site to commemorate his visit.
