Civil Aviation Authority receives Covid-19 Safety Kits from UN and IOM

While all preparations to have Entebbe International Airport reopened after Cabinet seating earlier last week led by Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and the Covid-19 National Taskforce on restarting International air travel at the Airport, reopen of border entry points among other sectors of the economy still on lockdown and proposal submitted for approval

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority on Tuesday this week received a donation of Covid-19 Safety kits from the International Organization for Immigration and the United Nations at Entebbe International Airport.

The donation was delivered by UN Resident Coordinator for Uganda, Ms. Rosa Malango and received by the Minister of State for Works and Transport, Hon. Joy Kabatsi together with officials from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

According to an official from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, these donations come at a time the Airport prepares for reopening and only waiting for announcement from the President.

Vianny Luggya, the Civil Aviation Authority Public Relations Officer said; “These donations are addition to the already set Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) among other measures we had put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at the Airport for all guests accessing Uganda through the premises“.

Luggya added; “We applaud the two Organizations that have teamed up with us in the fight against the deadly novel Coronavirus as these donations especially the Thermoscanner will enable us to check temperatures of various guests accessing through the Airport  one after the other as all passengers will be entitled to go through the device for temperature screening and those above 37.5 degrees celicious will be automatically taken into isolation, have a Covid-19 PCR test conducted and retained for evacuation into Quarantine“
