EgyptAir Expands its network with new Routes to Manchester and Delhi

Cairo-based airline EgyptAir has recently announced its plans to expand its global network by introducing new flight routes connecting Cairo International Airport (CAI) to Manchester Airport (MAN) in the United Kingdom and Delhi-Indira Gandhi Airport (DEL) in India. These new routes are expected to enhance connectivity for travelers and open up opportunities for tourism and business in the region.

Starting from July 15, EgyptAir will operate a 5X-weekly service between Cairo International Airport (CAI) and Manchester Airport (MAN) using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 154 passengers. This new direct route between Cairo and Manchester is a significant milestone, as it marks the first air connection between the two cities since 2015. Moreover, it will be the only connection between Cairo and a UK city outside of London. This development is expected to facilitate convenient access to Egypt’s renowned tourist attractions for passengers traveling from Manchester. Additionally, the route will create opportunities for businesses in the region, providing them access to a rapidly expanding market.

Mohamed Moussa, CEO of EgyptAir, emphasizes the increasing demand for Manchester as a destination among their customers. He acknowledges Manchester Airport’s significance as one of the largest and most sought-after airports in the UK. EgyptAir’s extensive network, which now comprises over 70 destinations worldwide, offers passengers originating from Manchester the ability to connect to various African, Middle Eastern, and Asian destinations through Cairo.

In another expansion move, EgyptAir will launch nonstop flights between Cairo and Delhi, India. Commencing from August 3, 2023, the Egyptian national carrier will offer four flights per week between Cairo and Delhi-Indira Gandhi Airport. These flights will be operated by an Airbus A320neo aircraft, which can accommodate 16 passengers in Business class and 126 in Economy. Departures from both cities are scheduled on Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:50 p.m. (with arrival the next day at 8:55 a.m.), and on Fridays and Sundays at 11:40 a.m. (with arrival at 8:45 p.m.). Return flights will depart from India on Mondays and Saturdays at 1:50 a.m. (arriving at 6:50 a.m.) and on Fridays and Sundays at 5:40 p.m. (arriving at 9:55 p.m.).

With no direct competition on this route, EgyptAir aims to capitalize on the growing demand for travel between Cairo and Delhi. The flight time of approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes offers a convenient option for travelers. EgyptAir’s codeshare partnership with Air India, another Star Alliance member, will further enhance connectivity and provide passengers with a wider range of travel options.

Furthermore, the Cairo-Delhi service presents an excellent opportunity for travelers to access various destinations worldwide through Cairo’s well-connected hub. Passengers can easily connect to popular cities such as Dubai, Riyadh, London, Paris, New York, and many others, facilitating seamless travel across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America.

The expansion of EgyptAir’s network with the introduction of new routes to Manchester and Delhi reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting the evolving travel needs of its customers. With enhanced connectivity and convenient access to popular destinations, EgyptAir is poised to contribute to the growth of tourism and business in both regions while strengthening its position as a leading international carrier.
