The increased flights to Entebbe International Airport will be a great boost to Uganda’s tourism sector in that these they will guarantee more passenger traffic into the country which directly implores an increase in the number of tourist entering the country.

This decision to double the flights has been accredited to the increased passenger traffic from Entebbe Airport (EBB) to Emirates’ global destinations such as Dubai, London, New York, Beijing, Guangzhou among others.

The Emirates, a subsidiary of The Emirates Group that is wholly owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation of Dubai, currently operates on a daily Entebbe – Dubai flights via its Dubai hub to over 150 worldwide destinations.

More passenger traffic is expected into the country withe the increase in Emirates’ flights to Entebbe

While commenting on the matter, the Emirates Country Manager, John Gemin said that Uganda had affirmed that destination Uganda remains a regional growth factor for the airline.

“From April 2018 to March 2019, Emirates carried over 90,000 passengers between Entebbe and Dubai, and we are committed to facilitating trade, tourism and cargo exports in the years to come. Our customers have come to expect the high standard of product and service we offer, and the increased flights will offer them greater flexibility to connect to their favourite destinations,” he said.

Earlier, the State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Godfrey Kiwanda, was on record saying that Uganda aimed at increasing the number of tourists who visited Uganda from last year’s two million to three million in 2019.

“The year 2018 has been particularly transformational and the sector has registered strong achievements as we work towards consolidating our position as the Pearl of Africa,” he remarked.

Emirates started operations to Entebbe in March 2000, with three flights a week linked with Nairobi, and later with Addis Abba, until it was delinked in 2007 and became a direct daily service between Dubai and Entebbe.
