The airline’s 50-strong A350 aircraft will be outfitted with cutting-edge inflight entertainment systems that provide a remarkable cinematic and individualized passenger experience thanks to an investment of over US$ 350 million.

According to Adel al Redha, chief operating officer of Emirates, “Emirates has always regarded in-flight entertainment as an essential aspect of our onboard experience. In fact, over 30 years ago, we were the first airline to install personal screens in every seat on board, when that was hardly commonplace. Emirates Ice is still unrivalled in terms of in-flight entertainment experience and content today.

The objective of Emirates is to Fly Better, Yannick Assouad, Executive Vice-President of Thales Avionics, said: “At Thales, we are happy to cooperate with Emirates in this endeavour. Emirates’ aircraft now has the newest consumer technology and capabilities thanks to Thales’ AVANT Up. Emirates consumers can anticipate the extraordinary thanks to our Optiq 4K QLED HDR screens, award-winning dynamic power, and next-generation digital services.

Only aeroplane displays leveraging Samsung’s QLED technology to immerse viewers in more than a billion hues, Thales’ AVANT Up system’s game-changing technology includes Optiq 4k QLED HDR displays. The unparalleled ice inflight entertainment system from Emirates, which offers over 5,000 channels of multilingual content including live TV, the newest movies, TV episodes, and music hits, finds the ideal medium in its extensive display capability. The new system from Thales will also provide an enhanced ‘live’ television solution that offers a broader choice of live television and news in the highest available definition at 40,000 feet.

With Optiq, the first smart display in the market to offer two Bluetooth connections, built-in Wi-Fi for users to pair multiple devices including phones, tablets, headphones, or even game controllers, and support for up to 60 watts USB-C to fast-charge personal devices, Emirates’ customers can also look forward to improved passenger connectivity.

Emirates has selected a variety of AVANT Up digital services, such as highly integrated personalization features, expanded personal electronic device (PED) capabilities, and user interface improvements that also allow visually impaired passengers to have an immersive experience, to further enhance passenger engagement.
